Sport Medicine Physicians
Our sport medicine physicians have special expertise and knowledge in musculoskeletal medicine and sport-related illness and injuries.
Our sport medicine physicians have expertise and knowledge in musculoskeletal medicine and sport-related illness and injuries. All physicians have specialized training and have successfully completed the CASEM diploma and exam. In order to book an appointment with one of our sport medicine physicians, a referral must be sent to our clinic by a physician.

Orthopaedic Surgeons
Educated and trained in the diagnosis, pre-operative, surgical and post-operative treatment of musculoskeletal diseases and injuries.
An orthopaedic surgeon is a surgeon who has been educated and trained in the diagnosis, pre-operative, surgical and post-operative treatment of diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons are medical doctors who treat conditions that affect the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves. To book a consultation with an orthopaedic surgeon, a referral must be sent to our clinic by a physician.

Ultrasound is safe and painless, and produces pictures of the inside of the body using sound waves.

Ultrasound imaging is a noninvasive test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. Ultrasound images provide pictures of muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and soft tissues throughout the body. Assessment, examination and treatment are performed by a subspecialty-trained musculoskeletal radiologist, Patients receive a diagnosis at the time of consultation and discuss treatment options available, risks, benefits and recovery times. Procedures are performed under direct image guidance for optimal results. To book an appointment with our radiologist, a referral must be sent by a physician.

Massage therapy consists of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints.

Chiropractic and Active Release Therapy
Chiropractic is a hands-on health care discipline that focuses on the musculoskeletal system to restore mobility and neurological function. Active Release Therapy is a non-invasive soft tissue treatment system that treats problems associated with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves.

Chiropractors practice a manual approach, providing diagnosis, treatment and preventative care of disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and joints. Chiropractors use a combination of treatments, all of which are predicated on the specific needs of the individual patient.
Active Release Therapy (ART) is a patented, soft-tissue treatment system that treats problems associated with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. This non-invasive, hands-on technique can simulataneously locate and break-up scar tissue, vastly improving overuse and strain/sprain injuries. ART can restore mobility, increasing circulatory functions, and increase neurological function.

Registered Dietitians provide individualized nutrition education as well as group education on various health topics.

A Registered Dietitian (RD) is a licensed professional, uniquely trained to advise on diet, food and nutrition. To become a Registered Dietitian you must have a university degree specializing in food and nutrition, complete one year of practical training or an accredited Masters program, and pass a national licensing exam. Our Certified Athletic Therapist will assist in the selection, measurement, fitting and education of your custom brace.

Shift Concussion Management Program
An appointment with our specialists can assess whether you have sustained a concussion, and give feedback on best self care practices.
Athletes with a suspected concussion are booked with a sport medicine physician as early as possible. Our clinic doctors will determine if a concussion has been sustained, provide early self-care recommendations and refer as appropriate.
Following this, an initial assessment will be booked with the physiotherapist. Rehabilitation will include advanced management strategies to guide athletes safely back to full participation in their activity and their lives. These include but are not limited to:
- Individualized Resting
- Specific Academic or Employment demands
- Manual Therapy
- Visual and Vestibular, Balance and Coordination Rehabilitation
- Physical Exertion Testing and Graduated Return to Play Preparation
- Screening and Referral for Vision or Vestibular sub-specialists as required
As with all of our patients, communication and collaboration will occur during the rehabilitation phase as necessary between physician, therapist and patient.
A final follow up with the sport medicine physician will occur to deem medical clearance for return to full sport participation
